AIM to Learn | Time Management and Python

The AIM to Learn workshops in Time Management and Python occurred on May 13th of 2020 at 14h00 and 16h30, respectively. Due to some restriction imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic, both workshops occurred in an online format and were limited to 15 participants each.

The workshop in Python was presented by José Pereira a CICECO’s PhD student from the Chemistry Department and member of the installing commission of CAD. Like the previous workshop on a hard skill, the speaker prepared a brief theoretical introduction to Python, showing some basic syntax and highlighting some key features of Python relevant for scientific work. In the second part, the participants executed several exercises and performed a simple data manipulation of some real-word experimental data.

The workshop in Time Management was presented by Maria Brandão and Antoniu Vulpe, two members of BEST (Board of European Students of Technology), with a local group in University of Aveiro more info. In the workshop on soft skill Time Management, the speakers presented some strategies and group exercises which led the participants to reflect and create their own strategies to increase the efficiency and productivity of their PhD work.

The feedback received from these events was very positive and CAD hopes to continue this initiative in the next year.
